Reflection & Throwback Tuesday - 2013 Year End Special

Enjoyable Recollection

 

The 31st of December is the oldest and last day of the year. Many of us are busy preparing to send-off the year 2013 and say hello to new year 2014.

 

I believe that today is the best time to look back and reminisce the past 1 year because this will help us evaluate our accomplishment and failures. Consequently, this is the best time to give thanks to our Heavenly Father. This year, I achieve several milestones although it wasn't easy because I was like in a roller coaster ride but I am very pleased with the outcome of my few projects. I am very thankful because I received so many blessings. 

Getting sufficient exercise regularly is also my of my goals this year and it balances my lifestyle. Indeed, I was also able to participate with different running events here in Singapore like;

I was able to visit several places in Malaysia with my new friends. I also visited my parents, old friends and relatives in the Philippines

Sinag de Leon-Amado

Tuve el encuentro con famosa artista de ciernes, Sinag de Leon-Amado. Ella nació el 13 de noviembre y se crió en la ciudad Marikina, un distrito de la capital metropolitana de Filipinas. Se graduó en la Universidad de Filipinas y estudió el Bachillerato en Artes con los Estudios de las Filipiñanas.

Después de hacer muchas obras de arte, ella había tenido mucha exposición sobre su trabajo artístico que fueron atendidos por los periodistas, algunas autoridades locales, los profesionales y las amantes de la cultura que se realizó en los museos en la capital urbana de Filipinas, en Manila.

Su obra maestra se basa en el papel de japón y los plásticos reciclados. Según ella, quería dar a los niños una inspiración de hacer arte usando los materiales que son reciclados.

Wake Me Up When September Ends!

Today is the last day of September and it means that the 3^rd quarter of year 2013 is over. It is time again to evaluate what has been done and what needs to be done to achieve goal. As far as I can remember, this quarter is the most challenging time for me because I need to pause, step back and look again at all my options. Consequently, I need to contemplate with my choices because of unforeseen circumstances. I am not dismayed that this quarter didn’t give me much achievements and I can also say that it is not as vibrant compare from the last quarter. I don’t consider that this is a failure but I think, this time around is just a breakeven part of my life.

 

What was done to improve myself?

 

ü I donated my hair to cancer survivor on July 6 because I thought I would be better to use my hair to make a wig rather than throwing it into trash. Out of 4 running events, 3 were successful run and these were Race Against Cancer, NESTLÉ - Love Your Heart Run 2013 & The Strait Times - Run in the Park.

 

ü I visited some cultural event in my nearby area.

 

ü I also started to practice my swimming & biking skills in preparation of my future goal.

 

ü My buying power is in full swing to accumulate as many gifts as I can purchase so that I can send it to my parents for Christmas.

 

One step backward

 

ç Adidas King of the Road; one of my running event was cancelled by the organisers because of the bad weather condition.

 

ç My paternal grandmother passed away prematurely because of the devastating stress she got from her daughter-in-law. I was trying to convince myself not derive to any conclusion about the cause of her demise but based on the stories I heard, the causes of the death were unacceptable. Had she not been emotionally stressed by her daughter-in-law, she would have been still alive.

 

ç I cancelled my trip to Indonesia because my grandmother’s wake overlapped with my travel plan. Although, I didn’t return to the Philippines, I thought it would be better not to travel in respect with my feelings and personal loss.

 

As my simple life goes on, I promise to move beyond my horizon and I will do it right. I will show that I can do it better. I will roar like a tiger in the next quarter!!!

Race Against Cancer 2013

This morning I participated in a running event which as organized by SingTel & Singapore Cancer Society.

 

Success isn't the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you're doing and you work hard you will be successful.

What A Great Hair Day!!!

This morning my new friends and I participated in a charity work that was called "Hair for Hope" of Children's Cancer Foundation. This was a signature fundraising event. We shaved our head to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer. It was fun to join with this kind of event because were happy that our hair would be useful to someone else. We thought that if we would to go salon and had a haircut, it would be a waste of hair. Thus, we felt greatness that we were important to others after we donated our hair. 

 

After the event, Chris invited us to have barbeque party in his place at Oasis, Pasir Ris. We had lots of fun because we talked as much as we would like have. We swam and ate lots of food.

 

It was a Great Hair Day! Personally, I was able to fulfil again my mission of helping other life in a little way. I was very thankful to our Beloved Divine Creator because he gave me more strength to do good deeds to others. Thus, I was also receiving more blessings from him

Reminiscing the Gold - Q2 YR2013

I had a very vibrant last quarter and I felt very blessed because I was able to achieve my goals. Moreover, I believed that I had a balance and good life. I also joined in several running events like JP Morgan Corporate Challenge Run, Sundown Marathon & Pocari Sweat Run 2013.

 

With regards to my financial matter, I tried to balance my spending without suppressing my desire to buy the things that would satisfy the so-called “Retail therapy”

 

I participated in some social activities and then I visited my family and relatives in the Philippines.

 

I can say that I had a blast during the 2nd quarter of 2013!

 

This coming 3rd quarter, I will run farther, save more money, travel more places, meet people, know better the different culture around me, and give more intangible support to the needy.

12 Happy Days of Vacation

Day 1 - I met my cousin to give my gifts to her. Then we ate at a Japanese restaurant and we had a small talk about the latest happening in our lives.

 

Day 2 - It was a ME time. I went to different establishments to consolidate my ledger. Then, my mom and I went to the museum and after that we ate together in a Thai restaurant.

 

Day 3 - I visited my relatives in Batangas City because I gave my gifts to them. On the same day, it was Angelo's birthday so I cooked barbeque for him, bought a small cake and we took lots of photos.

 

Day 4 - This was a Beach time for me. I spent almost four hours in the water because I missed the natural salt water.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 5 - Mini reunion with high school friends. I met them in a cafeteria near our old high school campus in San Juan, Batangas. We spent 6 hours of laughter, story sharing and of course we took lots of photos. Most of them are also living abroad specifically North America.

Day 6 - Sunday is a Charity Day! I visited Idente in Quezon City, a suburban of Metro Manila to do my promise of helping poor children. Unfortunately there was no class scheduled on that day, instead, my friends from Idente invited me to eat lunch with them and after that we had a small meeting regarding how to improve the teaching style to the children. I shared my ideas, vision and perspective to my friends on how to deal with children which are very difficult to manage.

  

Day 7 - Futuristic Decision. I consulted my friends about  my Futuristic Plan and they agreed that I should get what I dreamed when I was a child.

 

Day 8 - Decision Making in Progress. While I was busy thinking of my future, I spent the day visiting different churches in Manila which were accessible at that time. I prayed to our Beloved Saviour that He may enlighten my ideas, to guide my decision, to protect my family and lastly I prayed to our God that he may always give me good heath physically, emotionally and spiritually.

 

Day 9 - Happy Independence Day! Almost all establishments were closed so I decided to stay at home with my mother. Even if it was a holiday, I continued to process my dealings and meetings with special people. Finally, the contract has been signed.

 

Day 10 - School Day! I went to Instituto Cervantes to visit their exhibit in the gallery and I also met my few previous professors in that school. I also went to Intramurros to roam around with my Korean friend who is also leaving from the Philippines to go back in South Korea to fulfil his duty in military school.

Day 11 - Departure

 

Day 12 - I just arrived in Singapore.

 

My entire vacation in my home country was very fulfilling because it brought another enlightenment to my personality. It also helped me redefine the meaning of my life and its uses to my family, friends and acquaintance. 

 

Tomorrow is another Running Event for me; Pocari Sweat Run 2013

 

It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.

3 Weeks before Leaving Manila

These few pictures are the children that we are teaching how to live a life of simplicity without losing their faith to Jesus Christ.

Giving tidings shouldn't be all about the money, we can share our blessings by doing volunteer work.

Volunteer @ Idente

Volunteering is awesome and fantastic! I have enjoyed being a volunteer at Idente. It has been more fun to build good relationship with other volunteer. Thus, the most rewarding thing about my volunteer experience so far is enjoying with my new found friends while doing our decision-making and brainstorming process. Aside from this, doing a charity work has been refreshing for me in many ways because it thought me so many values. These are the things I learned through my volunteer experience with Idente missionaries;

Sharing, Being Confident always, Better person, Happiness, Prudent, Patience, Self-restoration, Self-checking, Self-Awareness, Self-Realization, Selflessness, Accountability, Responsibility, Learning from others, Tranquility, Alertness, Assertiveness,  Acceptance, Life Balance, Do things moderately, Positive administration of feelings, Understand the life history of other people, Stay Focus, Affection, Beyond the limitation, Result Oriented, Goal Oriented, Do the best without Expectation.

Meanwhile, these are the Big NO NO NO when you help others; like Selfishness, Indifference, Disrespect, Persecution, Discrimination.

Whenever we do something, we have to ask questions from ourselves before volunteering like; what do you feel when helping others? What do you feel when you are improving the way of doing things? These are so important because we need to find the purpose why we help others.

Trabajo Caritativo

La mayoría de nosotros recibimos muchas bendiciones día a día sin tener cuenta que ignoramos nuestra obligación a otra gente. Por otra parte, este articulo que quiero compatirles trata sobre mi experiencia personal y nuevo camino en la vida. Además, quiero que tengan en cuenta que esto no es una plataforma para presumir lo que estoy haciendo sino me gustaría invitarles a participar en nuestro trabajo para hacer algo distinto en su vida.

Mis amigos y yo somos voluntarios identes que es una parte de la Juventud Idente, la que es una fundación ecuménica, es decir está abierta para católicos y no. Ayudamos a los Misioneros Identes de Cristo Redentor en una Institución (congregación) misionera en un trabajo caritativo en diversas actividades. Nuestra meta es ayudar a los niños pobres para enseñarles buenos valores morales, catecismo y el arte que viven una zona deprimida en la cuidad de Quezon que es un suburbano de Manila, la capital metropolita de Filipinas. Los que nos enseñan distintas lecciones son niños de los obreros que trabajan dentro de la cuidad que ganan dinero menos de tres dólares al día. Ellos no tienen privilegios para educarles en un buen colegio. Aunque son pobres de los pobres, también tienen sus sueños de que algún día ellos puedan contribuir algo en su comunidad para aliviar su estado de vida en la pobreza.

Estoy muy agradecido porque cada domingo tengo una nueva experiencia cuando hago el trabajo caritativo. Pues, les cuento una experiencia buena que tuve cuando nuestro grupo estaba dando las clases a los niños, les pregunté sobre sus metas personales y me dijeron que ellos querían ser policía, actor, actriz, dependienta, médico, profesor, soldado etc. Cuando pregunté sobre lo que les gustarían ser, me di cuante que no sería imposible si hay bastante ayuda del gobierno filipino y de una organización no gobernamental. Asimismo, en aquel momento, me di cuenta que si fueramos a educarles bien ellos serían buenos recursos humanos, económicos y serían fuentes de la fe católica en el porvenir en este país, los que podrían continuar nuestra misión para dar lecciones a los niños en el futuro. Además, me respondieron que necetarían ayuda para cumplir sus sueños y en cambio irían a devolver las gracias en su comunidad.

Ahora, me doy cuenta que compartir las bendiciones que recibimos desde Nuestro Dios es muy importante. Al hacerlo, esa acción nos da más inspiración a nosotros mismos para continuar con la meta de nuestra vida y en ello,  podemos dar otra oportunidad a las personas para convivir en sus sueños aunque ellos no tienen recurso suficiente. Aunque experimentamos muchos desfíos día tras día, continuamos haciendo nuestra misión  de ayuda a los niños porque creemos que los niños serán buenos ciudadanos con talentos nuestro país.

Admito que muchas veces solo pienso en mí mismo sin hacer caso a alguien. Sé que el dinero en importante cuando trabajamos pero a veces tenemos que sacrificar para ayudar a los demás sin esperar a cambio de algo desde ellos. Yo trabajo sin recibir algo porque deseo realizar y cumplir el mandamiento de nuestro Dios para ser benevolente como un católico/cristiano.
